My Story
My name is Chris Burell and I'm a Regional Manager representing the listed Final Expense companies. By the time I had reached my late 30's, I had been in the workforce 20 years. All of my past work experience had been blue collar...the oil fields, drill rigs, refineries, ranch and farm work, construction, and heavy equipment operator.
Some of these jobs were good...some, not so good, and some were physically and mentally challenging; however, I always seemed to make a good living and support my family. Still, I knew there was a career opportunity fit for me out there.
In late 2000, I was introduced to the "Final Expense" insurance sales market. I was very interested in the opportunity and even though I had never been in sales, let alone commissioned, I was determined, and knew I could work hard...and most importantly, I was trainable.
Simple Sales Process
I learned the simple sales process...an in-home, 30-45 minute one-stop sale, the commission and compensation structure, and best of all, renewal income that was like money from heaven; I knew right then this was a fit for me.
This was a true blue-collar sales system: Work hard and smart, and use common sense. I never looked back and it has been the greatest career decision I have ever made.
In my first year, I began to see the potential in this career opportunity. As I said, I was from a blue-collar background, I was a high school graduate with minimal college. Fortunately for me, this business didn't require higher education, what it did require was working hard and smart.
In the years to follow, I helped train agents and became a District Manager, then a Regional Manager for the Pacific Northwest. This Agency maintains and continues to have been built with the vision of field agents.
My Affiliation with Final Expense Companies
In 2003, our agency had the opportunity to be affiliated with a top Final Expense company, who we wrote for exclusively. Because of innovation and hard work from everyone involved with that company, home office staff, managers and agents alike, in ten years time the company improved its production over 500%. That kind of growth, along with the explosion projected for the future of Final Expense, made many ask "Just what is this Final Expense niche and how can I be a part of it."
